If one theme runs through every page of Scripture, it is love — given first, and then passed on.
Love given first
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19
Love that will not let go
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Love for one another
- Ephesians 4:32 — “be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another”
- Proverbs 17:17 — “A friend loveth at all times”
- John 15:13 — “Greater love hath no man than this”
- 1 Corinthians 13:13 — faith, hope and charity, “but the greatest of these is charity”
Love without fear
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18
