About us

The Random Verse Generator began with a simple idea: sometimes the most meaningful way to encounter Scripture is to let a passage find you. Instead of scrolling or searching, you ask for one verse — and receive it, set in type worthy of the words.

What we believe a verse deserves

Every passage in our library is quoted from the King James Version, a translation that has shaped the English language for more than four centuries and is freely available in the public domain. Today the library holds 75 versesfrom 30 books, each carefully tagged with one or more of 9 themes — love, faith, hope, peace, strength, courage, wisdom, joy and comfort.

We present each verse with generous space, an elegant serif and a soft reveal, because the reading experience matters. A verse read slowly is a verse remembered.

Fair by design

Randomness should be honest. Each draw uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator with rejection sampling, so every eligible verse has exactly the same chance of being chosen. A short memory sets recently shown verses aside, so you will not meet the same passage twice in a row. You can watch the whole process, stage by stage, in the interactive diagram on the home page.

Private and simple

There are no accounts, no tracking scripts and no advertising. Verses are chosen on your own device, and the only thing we remember is your light or dark preference, stored locally in your browser.
